It's Your Right and It's Free

PHOENIX -- Secretary of State Ken Bennett wants Arizonans to know that voting is their right and it is free.

The Secretary of State's office is aware of at least one commercial website that charges citizens who want to register to vote $9.95. Citizens who wish to register to vote may currently do so at no charge either at the Secretary of State's website or at any county recorder's office.

“While I respect that companies may offer fee-based services, I am concerned that citizens may be misled into paying to register to vote when they can do so for free by going online to www.azsos.gov .” Secretary Bennett said. “I want people to be aware that they do not have to pay a fee in order to register to exercise their right to vote.”

Anyone who needs voter registration information should call their county recorder or visit www.azsos.gov .
